Pakistan Needs to Do More on Terror: Roemer

US Ambassador to India Timothy Roemer has said that Pakistan needs to do more to combat terrorism, said media reports.

“It is important for both India and Pakistan to talk to each other. India and Pakistan must decide on the agenda for talks,” Roemer was quoted as saying.

He made the statement after visiting a police memorial to pay tribute to victims of November 2008 terror attack in Mumbai.

It may be mentioned that the US is mounting pressure on Pakistan following failed Times Square bomb plot. A Pakistani-American Faisal Shahzad was arrested in the case and Pakistani Taliban is suspected to be behind it.

“India is one of the most important allies. We are working on providing access to Headley,” Roemer was quoted as saying.

“We will ensure US aide is used in an appropriate manner,” he was quoted as saying.

On April 30, Union Home Secretary GK Pillai had said that the US assured that Indian investigators would receive direct access o David Coleman Headley.

A team led by Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam visited USA from April 24 to 27 to discuss modalities for gaining access to Headley.
