Pact or no Pact, LJP to Contest Six Jharkhand Seats: Paswan

Despite being left out of seat sharing in Jharkhand by UPA allies, Lok Janshahakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan says the LJP will contest six Lok Sabha segments in accordance with an earlier announcement.

“We will be fighting from six seats in Jharkhand, that has already been announced,” said Paswan in an interview to CNN-IBN on Wednesday.

Responding to queries on why his party acted unilaterally with RJD, Paswan said that the situation was brought on by the inaccessibility of Congress leaders and that he opted for the option only after repeated efforts to contact them proved futile.

Earlier in the day the Congress worked out a seat sharing deal for the 14 Lok Sabha segments in Jharkhand, according to the new formula the Congress will contest seven seats against JMM’s five while the two remaining segments were left for the Lalu Prasad led RJD.
