Operation in Lalgarh Will Take Time: Chidambaram

The centre government has said that the security forces, making moves “cautiously” in troubled Lalgarh, will take some time before they complete their operation against Maoists.

The Union Home Minister said that the operation would take considerably more time as security forces were moving towards Lalgarh cautiously and that they are also addressing people through loudspeakers and distributing handbills.

The minister said that the operation in the area is not aimed at local tribals but intend to flush out Maoists rebels who have laid siege to the district.

“The operation is not against tribals but the Naxals,” he said.

Chidambaram said that the action against the Maoists were going on according to the plan and it would be successful soon.

“Adequate number of state police has been deployed there. The state police are taking the lead and the CRPF personnel are assisting in the operation,” he said.
