Nitish to face trust vote in Bihar today

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who parted ways with BJP-led NDA will face trust vote in Bihar Assembly on Tuesday.

JD-U has 118 legislators and to win the trust vote, the Sharad Yadav-led party requires 122 votes. Of six Bihar’s independent MLAs, four have reportedly pledged their support to Nitish Kumar.

Besides that, on being asked, whether Congress views JD-U as its ‘ally’, the PM said, “In politics there are no permanent friends or enemies. We decide as the situation evolves.”

Earlier speaking on JD-U – BJP split, Nitish Kumar came down heavily on his one time ally and said, “We cannot compromise with our principles. Whatever the consequences are, we will deal with them.”

Fissures started developing between JD-U and BJP ever since the saffron party appointed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the head of its election campaign.

JD-U’s aversion towards the Gujarat CM went on to become the prime reason behind its differences with BJP and both parties eventually went on to snap it’s close to two-decade political relationship.
