Nitish Accuses Centre of Not Releasing Money Spent on NH Repairs

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, lambasting UPA government for allegedly not releasing funds spent on maintenance of National Highways in Bihar, has said that the state government would keep on mounting pressure on the centre to get the funds released for the projects at the earliest.

In a function organised to mark 34th foundation day of Bihar Rajya Pul Norman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL), Kumar said that the Centre is reluctant to give money to the state government spent on the maintenance of highways in Bihar and that the state government would further build pressure to get the dues.

The chief minister revealed that the state government had spent Rs 711 crore to repair national highways in the last three years but the Centre is “reluctant” to give the money.

Appreciating works being carried out by BRPNNL, Kumar expressed hope that the Nigam would soon turn into an international construction giant and compete globally.

He also lauded BRPNNL for building roads and dams apart from bridges
