Nalini Claims there’s Threat to her Life

Life-convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case Nalini Sriharan has claimed that she has threat to her life and that jail authorities are assaulting her, said media reports.

In numerous letters written to the ADGP Prisons KR Shyamsundar, Nalini alleged that ‘there has been several attempts to poison her’, reports said.

She complained in letters that her cell had not been cleaned for days and suspected that officials ‘planted’ something in there to frame her, obviously in reference to the mobile phone found from her cell in April, said reports.

In April, she had written to Shyamsundar alleging that she was being harassed by the prison authorities, reports said.

None of her allegations have, however, been answered so far.

On May 10, Tamil Nadu government had told the state assembly that Nalini had made several calls to the foreign countries from the mobile phone recovered from her cell, including to Sri Lanka and Britain.

Nalini had recenlty appealed for premature release which was turned down by the Madras High Court.
