Muslim Personal Law Board Moves SC against Gay Sex

In its plea, the board contended that decriminalization of homosexuality posed a threat to Indian society and culture, said report.

It may be mentioned that it is not the first time that the Delhi High Court’s decision has been challenged in the apex court.

Astrologer Suresh Kaushal, too, had moved the apex court challenging the judgement in 2009. However, the Supreme Court declined to stay the High Court order.

On June 2, 2009, the Delhi High Court had a given a landmark ruling decriminalizing homosexuality among consenting adults.
