Mumbai Police Commissioner Moved for Failing on 26/11

Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor has been moved following his shunting out the Ram Pradhan Committee report on 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, which arraigned him.

He has been transferred to the post of the Director General Housing, Maharashta Police. The Committee report had indicted him for failing as a leader of the force during the anti-terror operations.

Subsequently, Joint Commissioner K L Prasad has been handed additional charge as Mumbai Police Commissioner for the time being.

The report alleges that Gafoor failed to take charge of the situation, strategise and take decisions. He did not follow the standard operating procedures of Mumbai Police for such situations as 26/11.

He did not visit each site and set up field headquarters as was required. Also, he stayed put outside Hotel Trident-Oberoi for all three days of the attack.

Gafoor also did not visit police commissionariate for updates on the situation and did not take regular meetings with field officers to take decisions or build strategies. In short, there was a huge communication gap between Ghafoor and his officers.
