Mumbai ATS Arrests Two for Plotting Terror: Reports
The Mumbai Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested two suspects – Abdul Latif Rashid (29) and Riyaz Ali (23) – for allegedly plotting to blow up ONGC oil tanks in Mumbai, said media reports Sunday.
According to the reports, maps of other vital installations in the commercial capital habve also been recovered from the duo, which had reportedly been in contact with unknown persons based in Pakistan over the past few days.
“The two were preparing to set one of the ONGC establishments in the city on fire following instructions from someone called ‘Uncle’,” an ATS officer was quoted as saying.
“We are probing if the directions had come from across the border,” he added.
The two are expected to be presented in a Mumbai court.
In arguably the worst terror strike in the country, ten armed terrorists launched sprayed bullets at many busy places in the city, claiming over 180 lives in November 2008.
