First time online admission in Colleges of Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Novel experiment was made in admissions process by Higher Education Department in year 2012-13. Online admissions were given for first time in the state as well as country In the first half of post-graduation and first year courses of graduation. Besides, Higher Education Loan Guarantee Scheme and Nikshep Yojana were also launched simultaneously. Loan over Rs. 7 lakh is made available under Higher Education Loan Guarantee Scheme to talented students on the State Government’s guarantee. Under NIkshep Yojana, the Housing Board has started construction of buildings of 17 colleges and 16 girls hostels in the state.
Teaching through modern techniques: Smart classrooms have been started in 38 government colleges to teach students through modern techniques. Smart classrooms are to be set up in total 100 colleges. Similarly, e-Learning Resource Centres were also set up in 15 government colleges during year 2012-13.
Under beneficiary-oriented schemes, 32 thousand 695 girl students were benefited under Gaon Ki Beti Yojana and 2,704 under Pratibha Kiran Yojana. The scheme was also introduced in all private government colleges in the same year. Conveyance allowance benefit was provided to 42 thousand 325 girl students pursuing education in colleges. As many as 1928 students benefited from Vikramaditya Yojana. For increasing number of beneficiaries under the scheme, upper annual income limit of family was enhanced from Rs. 42 thousand to Rs. 54 thousand. For SC, ST students, assistance for books were increased from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1500 and stationary assistance from Rs. 50 to Rs. 500. The scheme has benefited 58 thousand 527 scheduled castes and 48 thousand 606 scheduled tribe students.
Research scholarship amount doubled: Amount of research scholarships to SC, ST students was doubled last year. The amount has been increased from Rs. 8 thousand to Rs. 16000. The scheme benefited 42 thousand SC and 11 thousand ST students. Under Integrated Scholarship Scheme, upper annual limit of family was enhanced from Rs. 25 thousand to Rs. 54 thousand for Sanskrit and general scholarship.
Placement of 11 thousand 671 students: Under Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme, counselling was imparted to 2 lakh 28 thousand 670 students. Besides, 20 thousand students were trained in 50 MES courses under Skill Development Programme. Placement of 11 thousand 671 made in various companies through career fairs.
9 new colleges: During last fiscal, 9 new colleges were opened in remote areas of the state to provide quality higher education to students living there. These colleges were opened at Indragarh in Datia, Baktara and Dobi in Sehore, Jaithari in Anuppur, Isagarh in Ashok Nagar, Sitamau in Mandsaur, Nateran in Vidisha, Tonk Khurd in Dewas and Government Law College at Sheopur.
