Mumbai. Mumbai-based model, Preeti, who was accused of conspiring the murder of Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar has been sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by Mumbai session court.
The model was found guilty of plotting, aiding and abetting the murder by the court. It all began in 2004 when Jain accused Bhandarkar of rape and filed a complaint against him in Versova Police station.
The prosecution said Jain gave a contract to gangster Arun Gawli’s aide Naresh Pardeshi to kill the filmmaker in September 2005, almost a year after she filed a rape case
It was alleged that the model approached Pardeshi to kill Bhandarkar and paid Rs 75,000 for the job. However, as the task was not completed, she asked for her money back. The issue reached Gawli, who then sent his men to alert the police.
After a probe, the police registered a case on September 10, 2005. Pardesi was arrested the same day and Jain was picked up while she was on her way to the Versova police station.
The trial first began in the fast-track court in Sewree, but was later transferred to the sessions court.
