The missing file of slain ATS chief Hemant Karkare’s bulletproof jacket has been found but some significant papers are missing from it, said media reports.
Reports said that the information about the file being found has been sent to the Home Ministry and three clerks of the procurement department suspended.
The file has information about the purchase of the bulletproof jackets in 2007. A few months ago, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had found them to be sub-standard.
The jacket Karkare was wearing on the night of 26/11 when he was shot dead by terrorists is alleged to belong the batch of sub-standard jackets.
Karkare’s jacket went missing after his death and his wife Kavita had filed a right to information petition to know what happened to it.
On Tuesday, more than a year after Karkare’s death, a sweeper at JJ Hospital in Mumbai said that he may have thrown away the bulletproof jacket on November 27 last year.
Police is now probing if this indeed was the missing jacket of Hemant Karkare.
Karkare’s wife, however, has said that it is a cover-up by the government. She said that she doesn’t believe in this new theory.
