Miscreants Target Two Churches in K’taka

Two churches were attacked and the statue of Mother Mary was damaged in Mysore and Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka on Monday, say media reports.

Culprits broke the statue of Mother Mary on the compound wall of the Holy Family Church at Hinkal village in the early morning in Mysore district, added the reports citing the police.

In a separate incident, glass panes covering the statue of Mother Mary were broken at St. Anthony Church at Pernamakki in Uttara Kannada District – Police, however, said the statue was not damaged.

This is the second such attack in Uttara Kannada District after the Mundahalli church was targeted on January 22.

In 2002, miscreants had targeted the Holy Family church and alleged that forcible conversions were taking place there.
