Medical Tests Prove Kasab’s Adult

Putting an end to the age-mystery of Mumbai attacker Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, doctors have told the special court that he is an adult.

Revealing the findings, doctors told Special Judge ML Tahiliyani that Kasab is more than 20 years old. They added that they reached this conclusion after conducting forensic dental analysis, ossification test and X rays.

The team examining Kasab, comprising of four doctors of JJ Hospital, submitted their investigation report to the special court on Tuesday afternoon.

The special court at Arthur Jail Road had ordered an investigation to determine Kasab’s true age on April 24 after the defence lawyer claimed that Kasab was just 17 years old at the time of the 26/11 attack and contended to transfer the to Juvenile Board on this basis. Taking sharp objection to it, prosecution demanded for a medical examination.

According to the court order, report was to be submitted by April 28.

The findings would have a direct bearing on the final court verdict, for if it had been established that Kasab was indeed a minor at the time of attack, the maximum sentence the terrorist would have faced is just three years in jail.
