Maoists Trying to Spread Network in Gujarat: Police

Maoists are creeping into Gujarat and setting up their foothold in the state, which has so far been remained unaffected by ‘red terror’ in spite of a large tribal population, reported PTI citing police.

Police said that arrest of a rebel leader in Surat, rise in Naxal meetings and clandestine movement of Maoists in the state distributing leaflets and asking people to team up with armed movement were all pointers to rebels’ attempt to spread their network in Gujarat, said reports.

Police said that Maoists targeted migrants, who came in the state in huge numbers from other Naxal-affected states, as their potential cadres, reports said.
