Maoists, Defence Forces Exchange Fire in Lalgarh
For the second time in three days, Maoists and security forces on Wednesday exchanged fire at three places in Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, said police.
According to reports, firing took place at Kantapahari, Bhulageria and Kadasole areas, liberated earlier by the Central forces and police in anti-maoist operations that started since June 19.
Sources said that a 300-member armed group of Maoists have tiptoed into Lalgarh and that there is no casualty in the firing so far.
In the meanwhile, the People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities ransacked a CPM local committee office at Dherua, said police.
The PCPA members felled trees at Tandra and other areas on roads leading to Lalgarh and organised a rally at Mehmul, near Salboni and at Madhupur to protest ‘atrocities’ during anti-Maoist operations by security forces, they said.
