Maoist Mayhem: Rebels Kill Two in Lalgarh

Maoist rebels struck back Tuesday morning killing a People’s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) supporter and a member of the Trinamool Congress. The duo was abducted two days ago by Maoists who accused them of being police informers.

Dead bodies of PCPA supporter Tarini Deb Singh and Trinamool activist Swapan Deb Singh were found in an uninhabited tract between to villages near Lalgarh.

Maoists have claimed responsibility for the murders.

In a separate incident, nearly 10 armed Maoists raided the house of a local CPI-M leader in the Salboni police station area and assaulted his father for refusing to provide his whereabouts, the police said.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Police and West Bengal Police held a high-level meeting to chalk out a joint strategy to curb the Maoist menace in the two states.

An employee of a Delhi-based construction company was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly providing communication sets and other logistical support to Maoists in Jharkhand’s Palamu district.

The accused, identified as Naresh Sharma of Shekhar Construction Company, was arrested from the company office in Redma, following a tip off, say media reports citing police officials.
