Maneka Gandhi wants Varun to be the CM of Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi on Sunday endorsed her son Varun Gandhi’s name as Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) chief ministerial candidate for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2017

Maneka also accused Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav of having a vendetta against the saffron party MPs ever since BJP formed government at the Centre.

She urged the people to teach the current SP government a lesson in the 2017 UP Assembly elections.

“There is BJP government at the Centre and SP government in UP. Ever since the BJP has won Lok Sabha elections, SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav has stopped all development works in the state. He wants to humiliate the BJP MPs by his mean action”, Maneka said.

“We would have initiated development works if there was BJP government in UP as well. And it would have been wonderful if Varun was running the BJP government in the state. It would also have been great for Pilibhit,” she added.

“You wait for one year and see how it happens. How the development of roads, power and schools starts”, she further said.

If reports are to be believed, Maneka has already started lobbying to project her son Varun, who represents Sultanpur in the Lok Sabha, as the CM-in-waiting of  UP in 2017.

Meanwhile, while commenting on the issue senior state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpai told a leading news channel that the party high command has yet not deliberated upon the name of their CM candidate for the 2017 Assembly elections and the views of Maneka Gandhi were strictly personal.
