Mamata Announces Reward for Maoist-Targeted Rajdhani Crew
Union Minister for Railways Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced cash rewards for the crew of Bhubaneswar-Delhi Rajdhani express for saving the lives of passengers after a Maoist-triggered blast derailed the train near Gaya last night.
No loss of life or property was reported in the accident.
The Minister announced a prize of Rs 30,000 each for driver RK Singh and co-pilot AK Khalku and Rs 20,000 each to train superintendent AC Ojha and guard R Minj.
“They are awarded for displaying utmost devotion to their duty even in the face of adverse situation,” Railway officials were quoted as saying.
While the alert drivers prevented a major mishap, other members of the crew ensured that the passengers did not panic and worsen the situation, they added.
