Maharashtra BJP Leaders Meet Guv, Seek Ouster of Minister

Meets State BJP leaders on Monday called on Maharashtra Governor SC Jamir at the Raj Bhawan and demanded the innediate sacking of Minister of State for Rural Development Siddharam Mhetre who along with 28 others has been booked in connection with the murder of a BJP activist at a poll rally in Solapur district.

“Mhetre should be immediately dismissed from the Congress-NCP government in the state,” a delegation of BJP leaders told the Governor.

“The delegation told the Governor that the BJP candidate from Akkalkot was having interaction with villagers when a group of Congress party workers carrying weapons attacked him,” a Raj Bhawan official was later quoted as saying by agencies.

On Saturday, a BJP worker was killed and three others injured in firing at an election rally organised in support of the party nominee from Akkalkot Sidramappa Patil.

The slain party worker was identified as Bhimanna Kore, three others suffered injuries in the ensuing melee.
