Lucknow Teen Shoots Teacher, Absconds

Dejected at not being allowed to appear in the Class X board exams, a student of Red Rose Public Secondary School in Lucknow, shot his class teacher – Akhilesh Mishra – in the stomach with his father’s licensed revolver on Saturday. The teacher sustained serious injuries and is currently under trauma care while the boy is absconding.

Earlier, the school had refused to allow to let the boy appear for the exams due to short attendance before finally, relenting on Saturday, when the boy reached school the teacher scolded him for not being in proper school uniform and turned him away asking him to come back to collect the admit card in proper school uniform.

Incensed over the scolding, the boy went home and came back with his father’s licensed revolver and waited for the teacher at the school gate.

As Mishra left school at around 1530 hours, the boy asked him for a lift, as he rode pillion the boy asked the teacher to stop before whipping out the weapon and shooting him point blank.

While the boy’s father, Prabhakar Trivedi, a head clerk with the divisional railway manager, was unavailable, his mother, purportedly, told the police that her son was thrashed by his father when he came to know of his absence from school.

The school has refused to comment on the matter.
