Bhopal was sold by Rani Kamlapati to Dost Mohammad for Rs 50,000: CPI(M)

BHOPAL: After the grand inauguration of Raja Bhohj’s statute in the city, a press release of Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI (M) showed anger as well as worry. CPI (M) said, The State in which every day four farmers commit suicide and the citizen of that State lives for 5 years less than the citizens of other States that is only 58 years in that State if crores of rupees are spent on celebrating millenium year of Bhoj statue unveiling, then it is a matter of shame. Attempt to change the name of Bhopal is nothing but an attempt to divert the attention of people from real issues.

They claimed that nothing is mentioned in history which links Bhopal with the king of Dhar, Raja Bhoj. In the history of Bhopal there are signs of presence of only two Raja Bhojs. There was one Raja Bhoj who embraced Islam after seeing natural calamity and the second Raja Bhoj is mentioned in story associated with Manua Bhand Ki Takeri. According to the story this Bhoj later became Jain.

According to the documents of history at the end of 18th century a village named Bhopal was sold by Rani Kamlapati to Dost Mohammad for Rs 50,000. It was so small that Dost Mohammad made Islamnagar his capital not Bhopal. If Bhopal was so small in 18th century that what would have been its area and population in 11th century. It is not a coincidence that after 19th century and before 20th century there was no building in Bhopal.

Behind changing the name of Bhopal there is intention of disturbing the secular culture and to remove the tribals from history who are at present being evicted from their habitation. Instead of changing name government should pay attention towards changing its corrupt working style, said the CPI (M) press release.
