Lalu Convenes Meeting to Analyse RJD Debacle

To review the party’s debacle in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, RJD chief Lalu Yadav has convened a meeting of the party in Patna on May 28.

RJD General Secretary and RJD spokesman Shyam Rajak said that the meeting would be conducted at official residence of Prasad’s wife and leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly Rabri Devi.

In the meeting, all RJD MLAs and MLCs will be present besides party candidates of Lok Sabha elections to study the causes leading to party’s poor performance, said Rajak.

It may be mentioned that Prasad, who was in alliance with the Lok Janshakti Party of Ramvilas Paswan, had contested the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. The RJD had contested 28 seats this time but won only four while the LJP drew a blank. The RJD had won 22 seats and LJP four in 2004.

While Prasad retained the Saran seat by defeating his nearest BJP rival Rajiv Pratap Rudy with a margin of 51,815 votes, he lost the Pataliputra seat to his one time ‘friend and guide’ Ranjan Prasad Yadav of JD(U) by 23,541 votes.
