Lalu Arrested for Conduct Violation, Released
Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad was on Tuesday arrested onm the dais of a pre-election rally in the Garwah area of Jharkhand for an alleged violkation of the model code of poll conduct, he was later released on bail, informed district superintendent of police Saket Kumar Singh.
Prasad had faced violation allegations after his helicopter landed on the meeting venue rather than a designated helipad on April 7, an FIR was later lodged against the leader and the pilot by block development officer Subhash Singh.
The Election Commission had put Prasad on notice for violating the model code.
“The Election Commission issued the notice yesterday and asked him (Lalu Prasad) to reply by 4 pm tomorrow,” assistant chief electoral officer AK Sinha was quoted as saying by PTI.
