Kolkata Fire: Two More Bodies Recovered, Toll Now 36

Two more dead bodies were recovered from the wreckage at the Stephen Court in the wee hours of Monday, with toll in the deadly fire now going up to 36, said media reports.

“According to the FIRs registered with us, only one more person remains missing after the recovery of two more bodies today,” city Commissioner of Police Gautam Mohan Chakraborty was quoted as saying.

More that 100 workers of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation were clearing the rubble and the rescue operation was continuing in the building round-the-clock.

Chkraborty said that the only person now reportedly missing from Stephen Court is a boy from neighbouring Jharkhand, who came to Kolkata to appear in an examination on that day, said reports.
