Kolkata Fire Toll Mounts to 34

With the discovery of an unidentified body from the fifth floor of the ill-fated Stephen Court building in Kolkata, the death toll in Tuesday’s fire that purportedly started in one of the building’s elevators, mounted to 34 on Sunday.

Media reports say, the body, discovered from under the debris on the fifth floor of the heritage building, was so badly charred that even the gender of the corpse could not be confirmed.

The body has been sent to the local SSKM hospital for post mortem.
