Joint Anti-Maoist Operations Intensified along Bengal-Jharkhand Border

Joint anti-Maoists operations have been intensified along the Bengal-Jharkhand border, deploying more troops over a wider area, said media reports.

The operations are being executed by central paramilitary forces and the state police force for last four to five days, said report.

The operations were stepped in West Midnapore and Purulia districts in West Bengal, while in East and West Singhbhum in Jharkhand, report said.

Soren conceded to launch anti-Maoist operations after two-month reluctance following pressure from the Centre, state opposition and tribal groups.

More forces have been pressed into operation over a wider area this time. One additional battalion of the Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) is expected in Bengal within a week.
