J&K HC Imposes Ban on Reporting of Shopian Rape and Murder Case

Jammu and Kashmir High Court has imposed a blanket ban on reporting the probe of Shopian rape and murder case.

Hearing the case, a division bench comprising of Chief Justice Barin Ghosh and Justice Mohammed Yaqoob, directed the CBI, the investigating agency in the case, not to reveal anything to the press.

It may be mentioned that on May 30, 17-year-old Aasiya, along with her sister-in-law 22-year-old Neelofar, was found dead in Shopian. Their deaths had led to 47 days of protests in the town with locals alleging that security personnel were responsible for the crime.

The probe into the case was handed to the CBI on September 17.
