JAC Demands December 9 Time-frame from Telangana Panel

The Joint Action Committee on Telangana (JAC) said that the committee proposed to be appointed by the Centre to go into the demand of creating separate Telangana state should adhere to the December 9 time-frame, said media reports.

“They should commit to the December nine programme and have a clear time-frame. These are our two expectations,” JAC Convener C Kodandaram was quoted as saying.

He said that the JAC demanded a definite time frame for implementation of the task by the proposed committee, for it feared that the panel might finish up like the women’s reservation bill, reports said.

“We said some time-frame should be there. Otherwise, it would become an endless process. Like the women’s reservation bill, it will never see the light of the day,” Kodandaram was quoted as saying.

He demanded that the committee should be within the framework of the two demands and that JAC had not talked about the nature of the panel.

“Within the framework of these two demands, the committee should be only for formation of Telangana. Nothing short of this will satisfy us,” he was quoted as saying.

Moreover, Kodandaram made it clear that the JAC would continue its agitation in case the Centre’s announcement fell short of its expectations, said reports.
