Israeli Drug Pusher Held in Goa: Reports
Goa police have detained an Israeli national – Yaniv Benaim alias Atala – a suspected drug-peddler, after his purported statements caught on a spycam blew the whistle on an alleged police-drug nexus, leading to the suspension of five officials, said media reports.
According to media reports, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares confirmed that Benaim was detained by Pernem police.
He will now be handed over to the crime branch, which is investigating the police-drug peddler nexus.
Benaim was arrested from a guest house at Morjim village. He was earlier arrested and deported in 2006.
Authorities say they are also investigating how he managed to get back to the country.
