RJD, Cong Snub Gadkari for Derogatory Remarks

Irked at abusive remarks of BJP chief Nitin Gadkari about their leader Lalu Prasad, the RJD leaders in Bihar have said that they will launch a campaign against him and are also considering court action, said media reports.

Gadkari had yesterday said that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad were like ‘dogs who lick the feet of the Congress’ but later withdrew his words saying that he didn’t mean to be offensive.

Despite Gadkari’s clarification, many RJD leaders continued to be angered, said reports.

A meeting of workers and leaders has been called on Friday to discuss the matter, reports said quoting party sources.

“We will discuss suing Gadkari at Friday’s meeting,” a senior leader was quoted as saying.

Other programmes to protest BJP supremo’s remarks have also been made. “RJD will burn effigies of Nitin Gadkari in Patna and across Bihar Thursday to protest his abusive remarks against Lalu Prasad,” RJD senior leader Ram Kirpal Yadav was quoted as saying.

“We will not sit silent. We are ready to expose Gadkari’s narrow mindset…,” he was quoted as saying by IANS.

Similarly, the Congress too criticized Gadkari for using high derogatory remarks, reports said.

“It is highly derogatory language. But we are not surprised… Soon after Gadkari was made BJP president, it was said that his stature was not of a national politician. He is justifying this impression with this kind of language,” party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed was quoted as saying.

Jayanthi Natarajan, another party spokesperson, described Gadkari’s remarks as ‘shocking and outrageous’, urging him to apologize to the nation for brining politics to such a low, said reports.
