Indian Investigators to Leave for US Tomorrow to Quiz Headley
A four-member team of Indian investigators will tomorrow leave for the US to quiz Lashkar operative and Mumbai terror attacks suspect David Coleman Headley, said media reports quoting sources.
The team, comprising three officers of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and a law officer will go to Chicago and are likely to question Headley next week, reports said.
The team is being sent after receiving communication from the US Justice Department that all concerned authorities and defence counsel would be available during the visit of Indian investigators to facilitate their access to Headley.
Nevertheless, it is still not known how much duration of time Indian investigators would have to interrogate the Lashkar operative, said reports.
Headley, a Chicago-based American with roots in Pakistan, has already confessed to have conducted several recces as part of the planning for the ghastly attacks that killed 166 people in the country’s financial capital in November 2008.
