India Will Step up Security at its Foreign Missions: Krishna

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has said that India is waiting for a report prior before providing extra security to Indians in Afghanistan and is stepping up security at all its foreign missions following terror threats to country’s assets abroad, reported PTI.

“We have spoken to the Afghan government. We are awaiting a final security report,” Krishna was quoted as saying while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an India-Africa business conclave.

He made the statement in response to a query regarding security of Indians in Afghanistan.

“We are tightening security of the Indian missions,” the minister was quoted as saying.

It may be mentioned that intelligence reports have indicated that terrorists are plotting a series of strikes on Indians and Indian consulates in Afghanistan.

The threat perception has increased after the Feb 26 Kabul terror attack that killed seven Indians, triggering calls for better security for around 4,000 Indians engaged in a score of reconstruction activities in the violence-torn country.
