India Snubs Pak Attempts to Rake-up Kashmir at UN Panel Meet

Pakistan’s attempts to rake up the Kashmir issue at a meeting of the UN panel on humanitarian issues, elicited a stringent response from the India side, which questioned Islamabad’s right to raise the issue as Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.

Pakistan’s acting permanent representative to the UN Amjad Hussain claimed the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been denied the “right to exercise and the right of self-determination.”

Hussain, addressing the panel, said Pakistan is committed to the Composite Dialogue process with India. He also mentioned that Pakistan is willing for solving the issues with India peacefully so that peace, stability and progress prevail in the South Asian subcontinent.

Congress MP BK Hariprasad expressed disapproval over the reference to Kashmir in the debate on self-determination.
