I’ll Quit Politics if Charges are Proved: Koda

Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda has described money laundering charges against him as a “political controversy”, saying that he would cooperate with the investigation into them and quit politics if they are proved correct.

“This (the charges) is a political conspiracy as people don’t want me to succeed as an independent legislator,” Koda, a Lok Sabha MP, told newsmen in Chaibasa.

He said that he would continue to cooperate with the investigation into the charges leveled against him.

It may be mentioned that since October 31, Income Tax sleuths have been quizzing him on and off regarding Rs 2000 crore alleged hawala scam and illegal investment following raids in 70 premises across the country. IT sleuths claimed to have found proof in the case.

For the third time in a week, the ED has issued fresh summons to Koda asking him to appear before it in Ranchi on November 19. Earlier the ED had served him summons on November 13 and 15.

Koda, who yesterday wrote to the ED expressing his inability to appear before it in Delhi owing to the ensuing assembly polls in the mineral-rich state, reached here on Friday night.
