Higher Perks to Security Personnel Fighting Naxals

Finally taking a sharp notice of the Naxal menace, the government has given a go-ahead to the police to involve services like helicopters such as Chetak and M17 for supporting operations.

In addition, Cabinet approved the use of unarmed aerial vehicles for surveillance over Naxal areas, deployment of security forces to the marked zones for upto three years and incentive schemes for security officers posted in Naxal areas.

The incentives include a 25 per cent hike in basic pay and higher insurance coverage.

It should be noted that for filling up the vacancies in the forces that fight Naxals, preference, according to the Cabinet decision, will be given to people who belongs to the areas, permitting officers to retain quarters in main cities or the capital if posted in Naxal areas.
