HC Extends Rathore’ Bail Plea till January 25

In Ruchika molestation case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has extended the two anticipatory bail pleas and a petition seeking nullification of charges against former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, reported ANI.

Earlier on January 12, the High Court had dismissed Rathore’s interim bail plea and asked the CBI to file its reply in the case by January 18.

The CBI took over the case on January 12 and initiated probe into the all three fresh FIRs filed against Rathore, leveling various charges including attempt to murder, abetment of suicide and sexing up the post mortem report and other documents.

On January 15, Ruchika’s father SC Girhotra and her friend Aradhan’s father Anand Prakaash met CBI at their Chandigarh camp office and held a formal interaction with them in order to acquaint themselves with the case.

The former cop has been charged for allegedly molesting 14-year old teenager Ruchika Girhotra, a budding young tennis star in 1990s.

Rathore has three cases pending against him in the court; all filed by Ruchika’s family and friends.
