HC Defers Hearing on Rathore’s Plea till Tomorrow

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has deferred till tomorrow the hearing on revision petition moved by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore for seeking bail in Ruchika molestation case in which he has been awarded an 18-month term, said media reports.

Abha, Rathore’s wife, had moved that plea on his behalf in the High Court on May 26 for bail, only a day after court announced punishment to Rahore and he was subsequently lodged in the high-security Burail jail, reports said.

The single vacation bench of Justice Ajay Tewari deferred the case till tomorrow, said reports.

On May 28, High Court Judge, Justice Gurdev Singh had posted the matter for today on the plea of the CBI counsel that the investigating agency had not received copy of the review petition.

In the bail plea, Abha contended that Rathore was sentenced on May 25 by an appellate court ‘under media pressure’, reports said.

She had pleaded that the former DGP was facing ‘severe health problems’.
