Harshavardhan says, sex education should be banned in school

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said that ‘sex education should be banned in schools’.
Days after the row over his remarks on fidelity over condoms to prevent AIDS, Vardhan in his vision document for Delhi schools said, “So-called ‘sex education’ to be banned, Yoga to be made compulsory.”

However, he later denied opposing the promotion of condoms.

“One should also promote integrity of sexual relationship between husband and wife a part of Indian culture,” the Health Minister was quoted as saying in an interview to a US daily earlier.

“The focus of the AIDS campaign should not only be on the use of condoms. This sends a wrong message that you can have any kind of illicit sexual relationship,” Vardhan said.

“Condoms do promise safe sex, but one should always remember that safest sex is through faithfulness to one’s partner. Prevention is always better than cure,” he added.
