Guj Govt to Challenge Ishrat Fake Encounter Report
Seeking to prove the Ishrat Jahan report invalid, the Gujarat government has decided to challenge the report, which said that the state police officials killed Ishrat and her three companions in a fake encounter.
However, the family of another victim, Javed Shaikh alias Pranesh Pillai, showed reaction by filing a petition in the Gujarat High Court to seek a CBI investigation in the encounter case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to take up the case of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi’s fake encounter for hearing on Wendesday.
The apex court, in the last three hearings, had instructed the Gujarat government to pay an interim compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Sohrabuddin’s family.
At that time, the Supreme Court had asked the Gujarat government if it was willing to allow this case to be probed by the Special Investigation Team which is investigating the 2002 riot cases.
The Gujarat government is opposing it.
