Changing weather in Bhopal creating serious problems

BHOPAL: Changing weather and variations in day and night temperatures in the month of November coupled with increase in air pollution has led to rise in cases of allergies and respiratory infections.

As particulate matter percentage increases in the environment due to change in weather the restless citizens are suffering from the effects.

A huge population in the city already going through the ‘Bhopal Gas leak’ medical problems due to air pollution trigger allergies in new and old parts of the city alike.

Pulmonologist atHamidia hospital Dr Lokendra Dave said, “The intake of patients suffering from respiratory infections has doubled in the season ahead of the advent of winter season.”

People with upper respiratory problems are forced to restrict their movement. The pot holes on the roads also add to air pollution on the busy Berasia road, Hamidia road, Shahjehanbad square in the old city or Kolar road and Hoshangabad road in the newer parts of the city.

“I suffer from asthma and inspite of covering my face, I cannot bear the dust on streets,” said marketing agent Anoop Tiwari, who drives across the city for work. The grown ups are not the only affected by various types of common flu, upper respiratory infection and community-acquired infections.

“Bronchial asthma has become common among children and parents have to be careful this season,” said Dr Dave.

“It is for the parents to take care. In this season we advice children to wear a sweater in the morning and avoid catching cold,” she added. Similar to the state capital the cases of asthma and allergies are on the rise in Indore too.
