Govt Could Introduce Grading System in Class 12: Sibal

Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal has said that grading system can be introduced in Class XII just as it has been in Class X board examinations, reported IANS.

The minister said that a committee was set up for the purpose after the idea was mooted and that it would examine how grading could be introduced at Class XII, report said.

“We had a brainstorming session on this,” the minister was quoted as saying while talking to reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a meeting on the school education programme.

After committee readies a report, it will be sent to the Central Advisory Board for Education and then to the Council of Boards of School Education in India (CoBSE), report said.

Grading system has been introduced at Class X under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from this year.

The nine-point system starts from A1 (a grade for students who have done exceptionally well in the exam) to E2 (unsatisfactory performance).

Sibal said that consultations were being held with the stake-holders to arrive at a conclusion on introducing grading system in Class XII.
