Governor Vohra Formally Rejects Omar’s Resignation

Blowing the long whistle on the ongoing political drama in Jammu and Kashmir, Governor NN Vohra on Thursday rejected the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who put in his papers on Tuesday after being accused of involvement in a 2006 sex scandal by a key member of the opposition PDP.

Governor Vohra, rejecting the resignation, said there was no basis to the charges leveled against the young chief minister, who is now expected to return to office on Friday.

The Governor, who was in New Delhi today, got the matter inquired through the Union Ministry of Home Affairs following the stunning allegation levelled by senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussein Beigh on the floor of the state Assembly, say media reports citing an official spokesman.
