Goa Police raided at Tarun Tejpal’s Delhi residence

New Delhi: Goa Police reached the residence of Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal, who is accused of sexually assaulting his junior colleague, in the national capital on Friday morning.
According to police sources, the Tehelka founder-editor was not at his residence. The police suspect that Tejpal could be at his residence in Himachal Pradesh.

According to reports, Tejpal’s family members refused to divulge his whereabouts.

Earlier, Tejpal wrote a letter to the Goa Police saying that he is ready to cooperate in the probe and sought two days time to appear before it.

The latest development in this regard came hours after Tehelka Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury, accused of attempting a cover-up of the alleged sexual assault, tendered her resignation.

Chaudhury had on Wednesday met National Commission for Women (NCW) member Shamina Shafiq during which she is understood to have briefed the latter about Tehelka’s response in dealing with alleged sexual assault case against Tejpal.

Tejpal had stepped down as Tehelka editor-in-chief for six months in wake of the sexual assault case against him.

The Goa Police had on November 22 lodged an FIR against Tejpal under IPC sections 376 (rape), 376 (2)(k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) and 354 (outraging modesty) in connection with the incident.
