Goa Police Arrest One, Detain Five in Murder Case

The Goa Police has arrested one person and detained five others after 10 bodies, mostly of women, were found across Panaji in the last three days.

Of the 10 bodies, seven are of young women while the remaining three are of a man and two children.

Police have formed two special investigation teams to look into the killings.

“We have got some leads and we hope to crack the case in 2-3 days,” said a police officer.

On Wednesday itself, four bodies were recovered. Atmaram Deshpande, PRO, Goa Police, said that in the case of discovery of the bodies of a woman, her companion and two children, police have registered a case of homicide. The four died from assault and an attempt was made to dispose of their bodies by throwing them in the sea, he added.

A father-son duo was also being quizzed in connection with the murder of one of the victims, a 16-year-old girl. The autopsy report said she died of strangulation. The girl’s cellphone records showed she was in touch with the son for the past three months.
