Frieda Pinto to Play James Bond Love Interest
Slumdog Millionaire actress Frieda Pinto, who went to Oscars but has never done a Bollywood film, is reported to have inked a multi-million pound deal to play love interest of the suave British Secret Service agent James Bond in the 23 flick of the popular Hollywood film series, said media reports.
According to reports, director Sam Mendes approached Frieda for a role in the film which is set in Afghanistan.
“Sam is excited, the project has been in the pipeline for months, and Freida was always the dream Bond girl. But initially she was nervous about accepting the role. This is going to be the most ambitious 007 yet. Sam plans to reinvent the genre,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying.
Peter Morgan, who wrote The Queen, has written the first draft of the script, which, reports said, promises to be visually stunning.
Frieda will star alongside Daniel Craig, who will be reprising his role as Bond once more, while US actress Olivia Wilde has been approached to play a double-crossing UN worker based in Afghanistan, said reports.
However, there is no comment so far from Frieda on the report, however, Dev Patel, her co-star and date, said that he was thrilled that his girlfriend won such a high-profile role, said reports.
A London newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying: “It will be a typically glamorous and raunchy role and Dev has been joking to friends he is cool with seeing Frieda rolling around with 007.”
