Four Militants killed in Manipur Encounter

Security personnel in Manipur on Monday night killed four separatist militants belonging to the United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) in an encounter, police said in Imphal on Tuesday.

The encounter, conducted by a joint team of police commandos and Assam Rifles troopers, took place in Tamenglong district Monday night.

A large cache of arms, including an AK-47 rifle and small arms, have been recovered from the spot.

The bodies have been sent for a post mortem.

Some 20 militant groups, including seven banned outfits, operate in the northeastern state of Manipur.
