FBI Team to Reveal Headley, Rana Links to 26/11
A key US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) team will be in New Delhi next week with fresh information on the terror plot hatched by David Coleman Headley and Tahawuur Rana and their links to the macabre 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai, say media reports attributing the information to National Security Adviser MK Narayanan.
The FBI visit to New Delhi follows intensive discussions between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President Barack Obama, during the former’s visit to Washington Tuesday.
On the US’ promise of providing vital clues about a prominent Pakistani linked to the Mumbai terror plot, Narayanan said he and Home Minister P Chidambaram will speak to the FBI director on the issue.
An estimated 166 people were killed and 244 injured when 10 Pakistani terrorists sneaked into Mumbai and unleashed mayhem in the city Nov 26-28 last year.
The FBI stance on the Headley-Rana probe is an extension of the new Indo-US counter-terrorism framework pact, which mandates the two-way sharing of terror related information between the partners.
