Facing Arrest in Anti-Sikh Riots Case, Sajjan ‘Missing’ for A Week

Facing arrest following non-bailable warrant against him in anti-Sikh riots case, senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been ‘missing’ for the past one week and his Personal Security Officer (PSO) has been suspended, reported PTI.

According to report, Ram Niroha, a Delhi Police Constable posted as the PSO of the Congress leader and Z+ category protectee, approached the Security Wing on February 19 and informed that Sajjan went missing that day.

Report said quoting unnamed sources that Niroha, posted with the Security Wing, was put under suspension and an investigation was on to establish the veracity of his claims.

Police has deployed a PCR van outside Sajjan’s residence in Madipur, said report.

“It seems Kumar has gone underground to evade arrest,” a senior police official was quoted as saying.

His lawyer had earlier told the court that he was not running away and was just exploring all statutory remedies available to him by approaching a higher court.

The CBI had on February 23 informed the court that they could not arrest Kumar as he could not be located, prompting the judge to slam the investigating agency for “not being serious in apprehending” the Congress leader.
