Doctorate to Dhoni

RANCHI: On Sunday the Jharkhand government said that it would confer an honorary doctorate degree on local boy and Indian cricket captain 29 year old Mahendra Singh Dhoni , who is yet to complete his graduation but who led his team to a fantastic World Cup victory at Wankhede stadium.

The state Baijnath Ram, human resource development (HRD) minister announced before the World Cup that a doctorate degree would be awarded to Dhoni if India wins the tournament.

Baijnath Ram said, “We will soon initiate the process to award honorary doctorate degree to Dhoni.”

Dhoni, 29, is doing his graduation from St Xavier’s College in Ranchi. He has been unable to complete the course due to his tight schedule.

Jharkhand earlier gifted a 4,000 sq feet plot and a Rs 11 lakh car to Dhoni when India won the T20 World Cup in 2007.

After the news of victory, people thronged to Dhoni’s house situated at Harmu Housing Colony of Ranchi to congratulate his family members.

However, Dhoni’s parents preferred not to speak to media persons. Not only in Jharkhand there were huge celebrations all over India. People came on streets and celebrated the victory.
